Percent Iron Saturation, also known as transferrin saturation, is a blood test that measures the proportion of transferrin that is saturated with iron. It is calculated by dividing the serum iron level by the total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) and then multiplying by 100 to get a percentage. This test provides insight into how much iron is being carried in the bloodstream relative to the amount that could be carried.
